List any four rational numbers between the following number pair.
$-2$ and $-1$
Given :
The given numbers are $-2$ and $-1$.
To do :
We have to write four rational numbers between $-2$ and $-1$.
Solution :
To plot 4 rational numbers in between $-2$ and $-1$, divide the line segment between $-2$ and $-1$ into at least five parts.
For convenience, divide it into five equal parts.
As the total length of the line segment is 1 unit, the length of each part is $\frac{1}{5}$ units.
So, the first point is $-2+ \frac{1}{5}$ which is $\frac{(-10+1)}{5} = \frac{-9}{5} = -1 \frac{4}{5}$.
Similarly,
The next 3 rational numbers are,
$-2+ \frac{2}{5} = \frac{(-10+2)}{5} =\frac{-8}{5} = -1 \frac{3}{5}$.
$-2+ \frac{3}{5} = \frac{(-10+3)}{5} =\frac{-7}{5} = -1 \frac{2}{5}$.
$-2+ \frac{4}{5} = \frac{(-10+4)}{5} =\frac{-6}{5} = -1 \frac{1}{5}$.
Therefore, four rational numbers between $-2$ and $-1$ are $ -1 \frac{4}{5}, -1 \frac{3}{5}, -1 \frac{2}{5}, -1 \frac{1}{5}$.
