Kiran swims in $90\ m$ long pool. She covers $180\ m$ in one minute by swimming from one end to the other and back along the same straight path. Find the average speed and average velocity of Kiran.
As given, total distance trasvelled $s_{total}=180\ m$
Total time taken $t_{total}=1\ minute=60\ seconds$
Therefore, the average speed $v_{average}=\frac{s_{total}}{t_{total}}$
$=\frac{180}{60}$
$=3\ m/s$
Therefore, the average speed is $3\ m/s$.
As she swims from one end to the other and back along the same straight path. So there is no change in position, therefore displacement is zero .
So the average velocity will be zero also.
