Is Tulsi Leaves good to eat?
According to Ayurveda and traditional medicine, Tulsi leaves have antibiotic, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties. It acts effectively on our respiratory system and rich in antioxidants which help in reducing stress and conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, fever, headache, sore throat, cold, cough, flu, malaria, tuberculosis, and so on. It also contains linoleic acid which is extremely beneficial for the skin. It is prescribed to take on an empty stomach because it is a great blood purifier which is known to flush out toxins and clean the internal systems. The leaves of Tulsi contain a high amount of mercury and iron, which are released on chewing them, that is known to damage the teeth and cause discolouration. That’s why it is advised to swallow it, instead of chewing.
