In a school, the number of female teachers is 11 more than the number of male. If the total number of teachers in the school is 55, how many are male and female?
Given:
In a school, the number of female teachers is $11$ more than the number of male.
The total number of teachers in the school is $55$
To do: Find the number of male and female teachers in the school.
Solution:
Lets assume the number of male teachers = $x$
Number of female teachers is $ 11$ more than number of male teachers
So,
Number of female teachers = $x + 11$
Total number of teachers = $55$
Number of male teachers $+$ Number of female teachers = 55
$x + x + 11 = 55$
$2x + 11 = 55$
$2 x = 55 - 11$
$2 x = 44$
$ x = \frac{44}{ 2}$
$x = 22$
So, number of male teachers $x = 22$
Number of female teachers = $x + 11 = 22 + 11 = 33$
