(i)Gurpreet attempts all questions but only 9 of her answers are correct. What is her total score? (ii) One of her friends gets only 5 answers correct. What will be her score?
Given :
Total number of questions $= 15$
Marks given for every correct answer $= 4$
Marks given for every incorrect answer $= -2$
To find :
We have to find the total score of Gurpreet and her friend.
Solution :
(i) Correct answers by Gurpreet $= 9$
Incorrect answers by Gurpreet $= 15-9=6$
Marks given for correct answers $= 4 \times 9 = 36$
Marks given for incorrect answers $= 6 \times (-2) = -12$
Total score of Gurpreet $= 36+(-12) = 36-12=24$.
(ii) Correct answers by her friend $= 5$
Marks given for correct answers $= 5 \times 4 = 20$
Total score of her friend $= 20$
