If 50 ml of water takes 5 minutes to percolate completely in a particular soil. Calculate the percolation rate of water in the soil.
Percolation is the property of absorption of water by soil.
Given,
Amount of water in ml = 50 ml.
Percolation time = 5 min.
To find - Percolation rate.
Solution-
We know that the percolation rate is the amount of water absorbed by any soil at any given time.
It can be given as-
$Percolation\ rate\ (ml/min)=\frac{amount\ of\ water\ (ml)}{percolation\ time\ (min) }$
Substituting the given values in the equation we get-
$Percolation\ rate\ (ml/min)=\frac{50}{5}$
$Percolation\ rate\ (ml/min)=10ml/min$
Hence, the percolation rate of water in the soil will be 10ml/min.
