Humans walked on two feet and lions walk on four feet does the style of walking have any effect on the speed of an animal.
Justify your answer.

The pattern of movement of limbs in animals and humans is known as gait.

Animals use variety of gait based on their speed, territory, need, and efficiency. The gait of bipedal animals is simple whereas the gait of quadrupedal animals in complex.

Running speed is controlled by the stride - length and frequency which are related to body size. Stride - length is the distance travelled in a single step cycle. Whereas frequency is the rate at which one step follows another. Hence the larger animals generally run faster than small ones with some notable exceptions.
