To obtain sodium chloride from a mixture of sodium chloride and sulphur by using carbon disulphide as a solvent instead of water.
Sulphur is soluble in carbon disulphide, whereas sodium chloride is not. Sodium chloride can be obtained from the mixture by filtration, where it would be obtained as a residue.
