How to represent rational numbers in number line ? Represent $\frac{-4}{3}$ in number line.
Given :
The given rational number is $\frac{-4}{3}$.
To do :
We have to represent $\frac{-4}{3}$ in number line.
Solution :
There are infinite rational numbers between any two integers.
Therefore, to place a rational number between any two integers we have to first convert the given number into a mixed fraction.
$\frac{4}{3}$ when converted into mixed fraction is $1 \frac{1}{3}$.
This implies,$\frac{-4}{3}$ lies between $-1$ and $-2$.
To represent $\frac{-4}{3}$ on the number line,
1) Draw a number line.
2) As the number $\frac{-4}{3}$ is a negative number so it will be on the left of zero. The number $\frac{-4}{3}$ = $-1 \frac{1}{3}$ lies between $-1$ and $-2$.
3) Divide the line segment between $-1$ and $-2$ into 3 parts(3 is the denominator here).
4) Move one part to the left of $-1$ (1 is the numerator in the fraction here).
5) Therefore, A is the required point.
