How heat is transferred?

Heat is a form of energy. Heat always flows from a body at a higher temperature to a body at a lower temperature. Temperature is the measure of the degree of hotness or coldness of a body.

Heat is transferred by three ways, namely, conduction, convection, and radiation.

1. Conduction or Diffusion- It is the process in which heat is transferred via solid objects that are in direct contact.

For example, It can be seen while frying vegetables in a pan. Heat transfers from the flame to the pan and then to the vegetables.

2. Convection- It is the process in which heat is transferred between the object and its environment, due to fluid motion (liquid or gas).

For example, Heating of soup in a pan.

3. Radiation- It is the process in which heat is transferred by the emission of electromagnetic waves, and it does not require any medium.

For example, Earth is heated by the Sun, in which heat is transferred by radiation.
