How do nerve impulses travel in our body?

The nerve impulse in our body travels in the form of electrical impulses.

  • The information acquired at the dendrites of the neuron sets off a chemical reaction that helps to create an electric impulse.
  • This impulse travels from the cyton along the axon and reaches the nerve endings.

  • At the nerve endings, the electrical impulse sets off chemical reactions to release certain chemicals that travel through the synapse and reach the dendrite of the next neuron.
  • Synapse is the gap between two nerve cells, across which impulse pass to reach the next nerve cell.
