Given:
The birth month of 40 students of class IX.
To do:
We have to find the probability that a student was born in August.
Solution:
Total number of students $=40$
Number of students born in August $=6$
We know that,
Probability of an event=$ \frac{Number \ of \ favourable \ outcomes}{Total \ number \ of \ outcomes}$
Therefore,
Probability that the student was born in August $=\frac{6}{40}$
$=0.15$
This implies,
The probability that the student was born in August is $0.15$.
