Solution:
We know that,
Savings $=$ Total earnings $-$ Expenses
$=Rs.\ (5000-3000)$
$=Rs. 2000$
Ratio of expenses to savings $=Rs.\ 3000:Rs.\ 2000$
$=3\times1000:2\times1000$
$=3:2$
The ratio of expenses to savings is $3:2$.
