Find the probability of getting exactly one head when two coins are tossed.
Given :
The given situation is two coins are tossed.
To find :
We have to find the probability of getting exactly one head when two coins are tossed.
Solution :
When two coins are tossed simultaneously, the possible outcomes are {HH,HT,TH,TT}
where H is the outcome of heads turning up and T is the outcome of tails turning up.
$$Probability = \frac{Number of favorable outcomes}{Total number of outcomes}$$
Total number of outcomes = 4.
Number of outcomes in which exactly one head turns up = 2 (HT,TH)
The probability of getting exactly one head when two coins are tossed $= \frac{2}{4} = \frac{1}{2}$.
The probability of getting exactly one head when two coins are tossed is $ \frac{1}{2}$.
