Find the perimeter of the following shapes:
(i) A triangle whose sides are 5.4 cm, 4.6 cm and 6.8 cm.
ii) A regular hexagon of side 8 cm.
iii) An isosceles triangle with equal sides 6 cm each and third side 4.5 cm.
Given:
(i) A triangle whose sides are 5.4 cm, 4.6 cm and 6.8 cm
(ii) A regular hexagon of side 8 cm
(iii) An isosceles triangle with equal sides 6 cm each and third side 4.5 cm
To find: Here we have to find the perimeter of the given shapes.
Solution:
In geometry, perimeter can be defined as the path or the boundary that surrounds a shape. It can also be defined as the length of the outline of a shape.
Now,
(i) A triangle whose sides are 5.4 cm, 4.6 cm and 6.8 cm
Perimeter of the triangle = Sum of lengths of all three sides
Perimeter of the triangle = 5.4 $+$ 4.6 $+$ 6.8 cm
Perimeter of the triangle = 16.8 cm
So, the perimeter is 16.8 cm.
(ii) A regular hexagon of side 8 cm
A regular hexagon has 6 equal sides.
Perimeter of the regular hexagon = 6 $\times$ side length
Perimeter of the regular hexagon = 6 $\times$ 8 cm
Perimeter of the regular hexagon = 48 cm
So, the perimeter is 48 cm.
(iii) An isosceles triangle with equal sides 6 cm each and third side 4.5 cm
Perimeter of the triangle = Sum of lengths of all three sides
Perimeter of the triangle = 6 $+$ 6 $+$ 4.5 cm
Perimeter of the triangle = 16.5 cm
So, the perimeter is 16.5 cm.
