Find the neutral atom in the periodic table which has the same number of electrons as K+ and Cl-. What is this number?
Potassium (K) has 19 electrons, it loses one electron to form K+
Therefore, it has 19-1 = 18 electrons.
Chlorine (Cl) has 17 electrons, it gains one electron to form Cl-
Therefore, it has 17 + 1= 18 electrons.
The atomic number of argon is also 18.
Hence, we can say that Argon is a neutral atom in the periodic table and has the same number of electrons as K+ and Cl-.
