Find the median of the following:20,21,20,19,15,17,12,8,5,10
Given :
The given numbers are 20,21,20,19,15,17,12,8,5,10.
To do :
We have to find the median.
Solution :
Median:
The median of a set of numbers is the middle number in the set (after the numbers have been arranged from least to greatest) or, if there are even numbers in the given data, the median is the average of the middle two numbers.
20,21,20,19,15,17,12,8,5,10
Arranging the numbers in ascending order,
5,8,10,12,15,17,19,20,20,21
There are even numbers in the given data.
Therefore,
Median $=$ Average of middle two numbers $= \frac{(15+17)}{2} = \frac{32}{2} = 16$.
Therefore, the median is 16.
