Find the median of the following data.

92, 35, 67, 85, 72, 81, 56, 51, 42, 69

Given:

92, 35, 67, 85, 72, 81, 56, 51, 42, 69

To do:

We have to find the median of the given data.

Solution:

We know that,

Median $= \frac{1}{2}[\frac{n}{2}th\ term+(\frac{n}{2}+1)th\ term]$  (when $n$ is even)

$=\frac{n+1}{2}th\ term$    (when $n$ is odd)

Arranging the given data in ascending order, we get,

$35, 42, 51, 56, 67, 69, 72, 81, 85, 92$

Here,

$n = 10$ which is even

Therefore,

Median $= \frac{1}{2}(67+69)$

$= \frac{1}{2}(136)$

$= 68$
