Find the median of the following data.

25, 34, 31, 23, 22, 26, 35, 29, 20, 32

Given:

25, 34, 31, 23, 22, 26, 35, 29, 20, 32

To do:

We have to find the median of the given data.

Solution:

We know that,

Median $= \frac{1}{2}[\frac{n}{2}th\ term+(\frac{n}{2}+1)th\ term]$  (when $n$ is even)

$=\frac{n+1}{2}th\ term$    (when $n$ is odd)

Arranging the given data in ascending order, we get,

$20, 22, 23, 25, 26, 29, 31, 32, 34, 35$

Here,

$n = 10$ which is even

Therefore,

Median $= \frac{1}{2}(26+29)$

$= \frac{1}{2}(55)$

$= 27.5$
