Find the median of 35, 10, 10, 35, 45, 32, 73, 90, 45, 34, 12.

Given: 35, 10, 10, 35, 45, 32, 73, 90, 45, 34, 12.

To find: Here we have to find the median of 35, 10, 10, 35, 45, 32, 73, 90, 45, 34, 12.

Solution:

To find the median we find the number which is in between.

First, we will arrange the numbers in ascending order.

The number given to us is  35, 10, 10, 35, 45, 32, 73, 90, 45, 34 and 12.

Ascending order: 10, 10, 12, 32, 34, 35, 35, 45, 45, 73, 90.

When the number of observations (n) is odd, the median is the value of the $\frac{n\ +\ 1}{2}$th observation.

Here, n = 11. So,

$\frac{11\ +\ 1}{2} \ =\ \frac{12}{2} \ =$ 6th observation.

6th observation = 35

So, median of given data set is 35.
