Find the lateral surface area and total surface area of a cuboid of length $80\ cm$, breadth $40\ cm$ and height $20\ cm$.
Given:
A cuboid of length $80\ cm$, breadth $40\ cm$ and height $20\ cm$.
To do:
We have to find the lateral surface area and total surface area of the cuboid.
Solution:
Length of the cuboid $(l) = 80\ cm$
Breadth of the cuboid $(b) = 40\ cm$
Height of the cuboid $(h) = 20\ cm$
Lateral surface area of the cuboid $= 2h(l + b)$
$= 2 \times 20(80 + 40)$
$= 40 \times 120$
$= 4800\ cm^2$
Total surface area of the cuboid $= 2(lb + bh + lh)$
$= 2(80 \times 40 + 40 \times 20 + 20 \times 80)$
$= 2(3200 + 800 + 1600)$
$= 5600 \times 2$
$= 11200\ cm^2$
