Find the area of a rhombus whose side is $6\ cm$ and altitude is $4\ cm$. If one of its diagonals is $8\ cm$ long, find the length of the other diagonal.
Given: Find the area of a rhombus whose side is $6\ cm$ and altitude is $4\ cm$. If one of its diagonals is $8\ cm$ long.
To do: To find the length of the other diagonal.
Solution:
As given,
Side $=6\ cm$
Height $=4\ cm$
Area $=base\times height$
$=6\times 4$
$=24\ cm^2$
Area of a rhombus$=\frac{1}{2}\times d_1\times d_2$
$\Rightarrow 24=\frac{1}{2}\times 8\times d_2$
$\Rightarrow d_2=\frac{24\times2}{8}$
$\therefore d_2=6$
Hence, other length is $6\ cm$.
