Find median of the following numbers
4 ,4,5 ,7,6,7,7 ,1,2,3 ???

Given: The given numbers are  4 , 4 , 5 , 7 , 6 , 7 , 7,  12 , 3

To do: Find the median.

Solution:

A median is a value separating the higher half from the lower half of a data sample. For a data set, it may be thought of as "the middle" value.

Arrange the given data in ascending order,

3 , 4 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 7 , 7 , 12

n= number of terms

n = 9

Median = $\frac{n+1}{ 2}$  th term

Median  = $\frac{9+1}{ 2}  =  \frac{10 }{ 2}  = 5$

So, 5th term is 6.

Therefore the Median = 6
