Find LCM and HCF of the following integers by using the prime factorisation method: 42, 63 and 140.
Given :
The given numbers are 42, 63 and 140.
To find :
We have to find LCM and HCF of the given numbers by using the prime
factorisation method.
Solution :
Prime factorisation of $42 = 2\times 3\times 7$
Prime factorisation of $63 = 3\times 3\times 7 = 3^2 \times 7$
Prime factorisation of $140 = 2\times 2 \times 5 \times 7= 2^2 \times 5 \times 7$
HCF $=$ Product of smaller power of each common prime factor.
HCF $= 7 $.
LCM $=$ Product of highest power of each prime factor.
LCM $= 2^2\times 3^2 \times 5\times7$
$= 4\times 9 \times 35 $
LCM $= 1260$
Therefore, HCF of 42,63,140 is 7 and LCM of 42,63,140 is 1260.
