Factorise ."
Given: 1 – a2 – b2 – 2ab
To find: We have to factorize 1 – a2 – b2 – 2ab
Solution:
1 – a2 – b2 – 2ab
= 1 - (a2 + b2 + 2ab)
Using, (x + y)2 = x2 + y2 + 2xy,
= 1 - (a + b)2
= 12 - (a + b)2
Using, x2 - y2 = (x + y)(x - y)
= (1 + (a + b)) (1 - (a + b))
= (1 + a + b) (1 - a - b)
