Explain the properties of Kite and Trapezium.
Kite:
A kite is a quadrilateral that has 2 pairs of equal-length sides and these sides are adjacent to each other.
Properties of Kite:
- The two angles are equal where the unequal sides meet.
- The diagonals are perpendicular.
- The longer diagonal bisects the other diagonal.
- A kite is symmetrical about its main diagonal.
- The main diagonal bisects a pair of opposite angles.
- The shorter diagonal divides the kite into 2 isosceles triangles.
Trapezium:
A trapezium is a quadrilateral with one pair of opposite parallel sides.
Properties of Trapezium:
- One pair of opposite sides are parallel.
- Two pairs of adjacent angles add up to 180 degrees.
- The two non-parallel sides are unequal.
- The diagonals intersect each other.
- The line joining the mid points of the non-parallel sides is parallel to the parallel sides and is equal to half the sum of the parallel sides.
