Explain the solubility of Fats.
The fats are insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents like chloroform and alcohol. Solubility test can be used to test oils and fats.
For solubility test take three test tubes with 5 ml of given sample solution to be tested. Add 5ml of water to the first test tube, 5ml of alcohol to the second test tube, and 5ml of chloroform to the third test tube. If sample is soluble in water fat is absent.
If sample is miscible with alcohol and chloroform the fat presence is confirmed.
