It would greatly benefit deep-sea divers if humans also had gills as then the divers would not have to carry the heavy oxygen cylinders along with them as they would breathe with the help of dissolved oxygen in the water. 

The divers would be able to move freely in sea waters without the fear of running short of oxygen or being burdened by the heavy oxygen cylinders.
