When a beam of light rays enters the glass block, it gets refracted and bends towards the normal as it is passing from a rarer medium (air) to a denser medium (glass). Also, when these light rays leave the glass block, they bend away from the normal, as it is passing from a denser medium (glass) to a rarer medium (air).
When light rays fall at right angles (at 90°, i.e perpendicular to the glass block) or normally on the surface of the glass block, there is no bending of light rays; they travel straight.
