To do: To find the length of the side of the scarf that can be made out of the given cloth.
Solution:
Area of the cloth$=9\ m^2$
The number of square shaped scarfs$=16$
Area of each scarf$=\frac{9}{16}$
Length of each scarf to be made becomes$=\sqrt{0.5625}=0.75\ m$
Thus, $0.75\ m$ of $16$ scarves can be made from the given $9\ m^2$ length of cloth.
