Describe balance of oxygen in the air.

The oxygen in the air is used by the organisms present in the air, water or soil, or on earth for their respiration. During respiration, carbon dioxide gas is released into air. But green plants during photosynthesis use carbon dioxide in the air for preparing food and they release oxygen gas in the air. Thus, the balance of oxygen in the air is maintained.

[Extra information: All living things(except anaerobic organisms) need oxygen to survive. Respiration is the process of releasing energy from food.  The living cells of an organism produce energy (in the form of ATP) by taking in oxygen and liberating carbon dioxide from the oxidation of complex organic substances. Respiration is the process by which living organisms convert oxygen and glucose into carbon dioxide and water producing a high amount of energy. It takes place in the mitochondria of cells. It takes place in both plants and animals.

Photosynthesis is a process by which plants make their own food in the presence of sunlight, carbon dioxide, water, minerals, and chlorophyll present in leaves.
