Describe any three ways in which inpiduals with a particular trait may increase in population.
A particular trait may increase in population through:
(i) Natural Selection:
The organisms with useful traits and higher adaptability will survive. The fittest organism will be able to survive in the world.
Naturally selected over-abundance of offsprings can lead to a struggle for existence. Organisms with variations can survive and reproduce in an effective manner, producing a large number of offsprings with a longer life span.
(ii) Genetic drift:
Genetic drift is the accidental changes in the frequency of genes in a population.
(iii) Mutation:
Mutation can be caused due to the difference in the DNA sequence responsible for the expression of the particular character.
