Define 1 dioptre of power of a lens.

'Dioptre' is the S.I unit of measurement of the power of an optical lens or curved mirror.

It is equal to the reciprocal of the focal length measured in metres. It is denoted by 'D".

Power of a lens in dioptre = $\frac{1}{f}$.

Here $f$ is focal length and it should be in metres.

So, one dioptre(1 D) is the power of a lens of focal length 1 metre.
