Calculate the concentration in terms of volume by volume when 50 ml of alcohol is dissolved in 100 ml of water.
Solution:
The volume of solute alcohol = 50ml
The volume of solvent water = 100ml
∴ Total volume of solution = 50 + 100 = 150ml
v/v Concentration =
The volume of solute/The volume of solution
= 50/150 x 100 = 33.33%
So v/v concentration = 33.33%
