Calculate the amount of heat generated when 7200 coulombs of charge is transferred in one hour through a potential difference of 50V.
Given: 7200 coulombs of charge is transferred in one hour through a potential difference of 50V.
To find: Amount of heat generated.
Solution:
We know,
$Heat \ generated = Voltage \times Current \times Time$
or
$Heat = VIt$ ........... (1)
We also know $Current(I)= \frac{Charge(Q)}{Time(t)}$
So, we get $Q = I \times t$ ......(2)
Substituting the value of Q in equation (1):
$Heat = V \ times Q$
Heat= QV
Therefore, heat generated =$7200 \times 50 = 3,60,000 $
So, we get Total amount of heat generated = $3.5 \times 10^5 \ joule$
