(a) What is meant by uniform circular motion ? Give two examples of uniform circular motion.
(b) The tip of seconds’ hand of a dock takes $60\ seconds$ to move once on the circular dial of the clock. If the radius of the dial of the clock be 10.5 cm, calculate the speed of the tip of the seconds’ hand of the clock. $(Given\ \pi=\frac{22}{7})$.

(a). Uniform Circular Motion: When a moving body moves around a circular path with a uniform speed or constant speed, its motion is known as uniform circular motion.

Example of uniform circular motion:

1. A motorcyclist moving on a circular track with a constant speed is a good example of uniform circular motion.

2. An artificial satellite moving around the earth with a constant speed is another example of uniform circular motion.

(b). Here given, the radius of the dial of the clock $r=10.5\ cm=0.105\ m$

Therefore, the distance traveled by the second's hand of the clock$=2\pi r$

$=2\times\frac{22}{7}\times0.105$

$=6.6\ m$

Therefore, the speed of the second's hand $=\frac{distance}{time}$

$=\frac{6.6\ m}{60\ seconds}$

$=0.011\ m/s$
