1) If a $5\ kg$ ball is accelerating at $1.5\ m/s^2$, what is the force acting on it?
2) A person on a scooter is accelerating at $2\ m/s^2$. If the person has a mass of $50\ kg$ how much force is acting on that person?
1). Mass of the ball $m=5\ kg$
Acceleration $a=1.5\ m/s^2$
Force $F=ma$ [Newton's Law of motion]
Or $F=5\ kg\times1.5\ m/s^2$
Or $F=7.5\ N$
Therefore, applied force is $7.5\ N$.
2). Mass $m=50\ kg$
Acceleration $a=2\ m/s^2$
Force $F=ma$
Or $F=50\ kg\times2\ m/s^2$
Or $F=100\ N$
Therefore, applied force is $100\ N$.
