An object of mass $m$ when raised To height $h$ possess a potential energy of $1200\ J$. Find the new potential energy if the same object is raised to height $\frac{h}{4}$.
Here given, Mass of the object $=m$
Height $=h$
Potential energy $1200\ J$
Therefore, $mgh=1200$
Or $mg=\frac{1200}{h}$ ......... $( i)$
When, height is $\frac{h}{4}$,
Then, potential energy $mg\times\frac{h}{4}$
$=\frac{1200}{h}\times\frac{h}{4}$ [because $mg=\frac{1200}{h}$ from $( i)$]
$=300\ Joule$
