An object has mass of 20 kg on earth. What will be its (i) mass, and (ii) weight, on the moon?$(g\ on\ moon=1.6\ m/s^2)$.
As given, the mass of the object on the earth $m_e=20\ kg$
Gravitational acceleration on the moon $g=1.6\ m/s^2$
(i). As known, the mass of an object remains constant. Therefore, the mass of the object on the moon will be $20\ kg$.
(ii). Weight of the object on the moon $W_m=mg$
$=20\ kg\times1.6\ m/s^2$
$=32\ N$
Therefore, the weight of the object on the moon is $32\ m/s^2$.
