An elevator descends into mine shaft at the rate of 4m/min. If it begins to descends from 10 m above the ground. What will be its position after 1 hour ?
Given :
An elevator descends into mine shaft at the rate of 4m/min.
And, it begins to descends from 10 m above the ground.
To find :
We have to find the position of elevator after 1 hour.
Solution :
We know that,
$1 hour = 60 min$
The total distance it descends in $1 hour = 60 \times 4 m = 240 m$.
The final position of the elevator $= 240-10 m = 230 m$ below the ground.
So, the position of the elevator after 1 hour is 230 m below the ground.
