An artificial satellite is moving in a circular orbit of radius 36,000 km. Calculate its speed if it takes 24 hours to revolve around the earth.
Radius of the circular orbit $r=36,000\ km$
Time taken $t=24\ h$
Therefore, the speed of the satellite $=\frac{distance\ travelled}{time}$
$=\frac{circumference\ of \ the\ circular\ orbit}{time}$
$=\frac{2\pi r}{t}$
$=\frac{2\times\frac{22}{7}\times36,000}{24}$
$=\frac{226285.7}{24}$
$=9428.57\ kmh^{-1}$
