A water tank contains 400 litres of water. 120 litres of water is taken out of it. Find the percentage decrease in the amount of water.
Given:
A water tank contains 400 litres of water. 120 litres of water is taken out of it.
To do:
We have to find the percentage decrease in the amount of water.
Solution:
The amount of water left in the tank $=$ Total amount of water $-$ Amount of water taken out
$=400-120$ L
$=280$ L
Percentage decrease in the amount of water $=\frac{Amount\ of\ water\ taken\ out}{Total\ amount\ of\ water}\times100$%
$=\frac{120}{400}\times100$%
$=30$%
There is a 30% decrease in the amount of water.
