A stone and the earth attract each other with an equal and opposite force. Why then we see only the stone falling towards the earth but not the earth rising towards the stone?
A stone and earth attract each other with an equal and opposite force. We see only the stone falling towards the earth but not the earth rising towards the stone. It is because the mass of the stone as compared to the mass of the earth is negligible so the acceleration produced in the earth is negligible as compared to acceleration in stone. So we see the stone falling downwards.
