A ship moves at a speed of 56km/h. One second later, it is moving at 58km/h. What is its acceleration in m/s2?
Here we have given,
Initial speed of the ship = u = 56km/h $=56\times \frac{5}{18}$= 15.55m/s (changing km/h into m/s by multiplying $\frac{5}{18}$)
Final speed of the ship =v = 58km/h $=58\times \frac{5}{18}$ =16.11m/s (changing km/h into m/s by multiplying $\frac{5}{18}$)
Time = t = 1sec
Acceleration = a = ?
As we know that acceleration is rate of change of velocity.
$a=\frac{v-u}{t}$
$a=\frac{16.11-15.55}{1}$
$a=0.56m/{s}^{2}$
Hence, acceleration, $a=0.56m/{s}^{2}$
