A rectangular piece of land measures 0.7 km by 0.5 km. Each side is to be fenced with four rounds of wire. What length of wire is needed?
Given :
The length of the rectangular land (l)$= 0.7 km$.
The breadth of the rectangular land (b)$= 0.5 km$.
To do :
We have to find the length of wire needed if the land is fenced with four rounds of wire.
Solution :
Perimeter of the rectangular field $= 2(l+b)$.
$ = 2(0.7+0.5)$
$ = 2(1.2)$
$ = 2.4 km$.
Length of the wire required $= 4 \times perimeter$
$= 4 \times 2.4$
$= 9.6 km$.
Therefore, the length of the wire required is 9.6 km.
