A rectangular field is 72 m by 58 m. Amar walks around it at the rate of 3 km per hour. What time will he take in taking 2 rounds?
Given :
The length of the rectangular field $=72 m$.
The breadth of the rectangular field $=58 m$.
Speed of Amar $= 3 km$ per hour.
To do :
We have to find the time taken for 2 rounds.
Solution :
Perimeter of the rectangle $= 2(l+b)$
$=2(72+58)$
$=2(130) = 260$.
So, the distance covered in one round $= 260 m$.
The distance covered in two rounds $= 2\times 260 = 520 m$.
Speed $= 3 km = 3000 m$ per hr.
$Time = \frac{Distance}{Speed}$
$Time = \frac{520}{3000}$
$= 0.173 hr$.
$1 hr = 60 min$
$0.17 hr = 0.17 \times 60 = 10.4$ minutes.
Therefore, the time taken to cover 2 rounds is 10.4 minutes.
