A pressure of $10\ Pa$ acts on an area of $3.0\ m^2$. What is the force acting on the area ? What force will be exerted by the application of same pressure if the area is made one-third ?

Given: Pressure $P=10\ Pa$

Area $A=3\ m^2$

Therefore, force $F=\frac{P}{A}$

$=\frac{10\ Pa}{3\ m^2}$

$=3.33\ N$

If the area is made one-third, the new area will be $A'=A\times\frac{1}{3}$

$=3\times\frac{1}{3}$

$=1\ m^2$

The exerted force on the new area $F'=\frac{10\ Pa}{1\ m^2}$

$=10\ N$

Thus,  The exerted force on making the area one third will be $10\ N$.
