A man weighing 500 N carried a load of 100 N up a flight of stairs 4 m high in 5 seconds. What is the power?
Given, weight of the man $W_1=500\ N$
Weight carried by man $W_2=100\ N$
So, total weight $mg=W_1+W_2=500\ N+100\ N=600\ N$
Height $h=4\ m$
Time $=5\ s$
Therefore, work done to carry the weight $=mgh$
$=600\ N\times4\ m$
$=2400\ Joule$
Therefore, power $=\frac{work\ done}{time}$
$=\frac{2400\ J}{5\ s}$
$=480\ W$
Therefore, power is $480\ W$.
