A drilling machine is digging bore-wells for water in the colonies. All the bore-wells have to be dug till 15 m below the ground if the drilling machine takes 15 minutes to dig 1 metre. How many hours will it take to dig 15 metres.
Given: Drilling machine takes 15 minutes to dig 1 metre.
To find: Here we have to find number of hours to dig 15 metres.
Solution:
Time taken by bore-wells to dig 1 meter = 15 minutes
Time taken by bore-wells to dig 15 meters = 15 $\times$ 15 minutes
Time taken by bore-wells to dig 15 meters = 225 minutes
We have to convert minutes into number of hours:
225 minutes = $\frac{225}{60}$ hours
225 minutes = 3 hours and 45 minutes
So, it will take 3 hours and 45 minutes for bore-wells to dig 15 meters.
