A die thrown once.find the probability of getting no. Less than 3
Given: A die is thrown once.
To find: The probability of getting number less than 3.
Solution: Possible outcomes when throwing a die = {1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6}
Probability = $\frac{Number \ of \ favorable \ outcomes}{Total \ number \ of \ outcomes.}$
1 , 2 are less than 3 .
So, Number of favorable outcomes = 2
Total number of outcomes. = 6
Probability = $\frac{2}{6}$ [$2 \times3 = 6$]
Probability = $\frac{1}{3}$
Therefore the probability of getting number less than 3 is $\frac{1}{3}$
